A CHAT WITH: REBEKAH FORD
We sit down with one of The Event Foundry’s founding partners, Rebekah Ford, to find out what advice and knowledge she has to share on the process of making events memorable.
Where’s your next event?
Our next live event is a b2b expo and conference in Sweden, one of my favourite countries. It’s amazing to have a direct comparison as to how different cultures and nationalities host events.
Did you always want to work in events?
No! Although I always wanted to work in a way that impacted people in a positive way and so when leaving university, or even before that, there’s no way I realised that events could have provided that opportunity. It wasn’t until I started to attend events myself that I realised how experiences through events are what people really remember, not dates in diaries.

Aren’t events stressful?
They can be, usually when something has had to be adjusted to allow for change, which 9 out of 10 times will happen. So, knowing that there will be some stress thrown into the mix, you can usually be expecting it and have some plan b’s, c’s and d’s up your sleeve.
Is there a client you’d love to work for?
We’ve had some pretty special clients over the last 10 years, some of which would be my answer to this question. However, I’m not sure I could give you a name now, but rather, ‘the type of client’ I’d love to work for is a team who are positive, have bold and clear vision and trust The Event Foundry to bring it to life. Collaborative clients who aren’t afraid to be open to creative solutions always make it rewarding!

What’s the best thing about running an events business?
Ah, there are so many ways I could answer this…Seeing ideas come to life,
Knowing that something you once dreamed about is now a reality
Getting to work with suppliers, venues and clients who we consider to be the best
Ending every event on a high!
What does a day off look like for you?
The difference between a ‘working day’ and a ‘day off’ is not so much when you run a business, as there’s always something running through your mind!
Especially in this industry where events can involve late evenings and weekends, so each week can be different.
I do really enjoy taking time to get outside and run, catch up with family or even just be at home enjoying some good food! So, a day off for me is where the laptop isn’t opened and there’s downtime, ready for the next adventure!

The Event Foundry in three words?
Collaborative. Effective. No nonsense. (is that 4?!)
