BBC x Toshiba CollabORATION

Working with Toshiba's design agency, we brought the small screen to Soho with an exclusive premier event for 100 competition winners.

A group of nine young adults sitting on bean bags and chairs in a cozy, colorful room with plush toys, artwork, and a television set, engaging in conversation and enjoying drinks and snacks.

The theatrics of the guest experience was at the heart of the event so finding the perfect venue was key. Working with BBC Studio's Props Department to bring the actual Tardis along was great fun! We sourced the very best technical suppliers to ensure the TV Premiere was to broadcast standards.

An art installation with four statues of angels, with wings, in a room lit with purple and blue lighting, and surrounded by equipment and a large screen showing a woman.

Finding a venue with a correlation to Doctor Who was important to the story, and our underground find, with an entrance through an old record shop in Soho was perfect.

THE PASSION FOR DOCTOR WHO WAS CLEARLY VISIBLE THROUGHOUT THE EVENT

THE PROJECT
PROCESS:

  • Our brief was a group of key words: urban, brickwork, tunnels, industrial with a broad seach area across London. We distilled it down and found the perfect location in Soho.

  • Small screen to live event; there was so much creativity in the story of Doctor Who and it was great to work with the design agency to bring this to life.

  • With so many strands to the event, our project management was integral to keep the project on track.

  • Identifying key touch points and Easter eggs to build momentum.

  • With such a high-profile event, it was vital our suppliers were an extention of the brand.

  • Onsite from set-up to lights off, timing was critical to coincide with the love BBC broadcast.
